We get a LOT of people asking how to buy CHI or WCHI, and often they don’t know the difference. I’m going to clear up the differences and then give some information and advice on how to buy, where to buy, and some pro tips in another post.
CHI vs WCHI
CHI is the native cryptocurrency of the Xaya blockchain. It is a coin. It is not a token.
WCHI is “wrapped CHI”. It is a 1:1 token representation of CHI controlled by smart contracts on various blockchains or EVMs (Ethereum Virtual Machines). It follows the ERC-20 standard. There are also HTLC (Hashed Time Lock Contracts) to enable atomic, trustless cross-chain swaps and a future Lightning implementation.
The WCHI contract addresses (definitions) are on the Xaya GitHub here:
ALWAYS use official sources for contract addresses. Don’t trust random websites.
Wallets for CHI & WCHI
The primary wallet for advanced users is the Xaya Core QT wallet. It is nearly identical to the Bitcoin Core QT wallet. There is also another full node wallet, the Xaya Electron wallet, which is designed for playing games and storing CHI securely.
Also for CHI, there is a “lite” or SPV (Simple Payment Verification) wallet, the Xaya Electrum (“um” vs “on” above) wallet. It’s fast and easy to set up, and ideal for most people. It’s nearly identical to the Bitcoin Electrum wallet.
WCHI, on the other hand, requires EVM-compatible wallets, such as MetaMask. However, WCHI isn’t currently a default token in these kinds of wallets, so you must add it manually. To do so:
- Open your wallet (e.g. MetaMask) and switch to the network that you wish to use, e.g. Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon (MATIC), or xDAI
- Click the “Import tokens” link
- Paste the proper WCHI contract address from the WCHI GitHub page above into the “Token Contract Address” input, then click the “Add Custom Token” button
- Repeat steps 1-3 for each network that you wish to add
If you don’t already have a network enabled in your wallet, you’ll need to add it. To do so:
- Click the network selector in your wallet
- Click the “Add Network” button
- Copy & paste the network’s information from it’s official page then click “Save”
It’s important that you only use official sources when adding a token or network. Here are some links to networks that you may wish to add for WCHI:
- Ethereum: This is already in your wallet by default, so no need to add it
- Binance Smart Chain (BSC): https://docs.binance.org/smart-chain/wallet/metamask.html#connect-your-metamask-with-binance-smart-chain
- Polygon (MATIC): https://docs.polygon.technology/docs/develop/metamask/config-polygon-on-metamask/
- xDAI: https://www.xdaichain.com/for-users/wallets/metamask/metamask-setup
- Arbitrum One: https://arbitrum.io/bridge-tutorial/
Keep in mind that for each of those different networks, you’ll need a specific token in order to pay for its transaction fees, i.e.:
- Ethereum: ETH
- BSC: BNB
- Polygon: MATIC
- xDai: xDai
- Arbitrum One: ETH
You won’t be able to transfer your WCHI without the proper token for tx fees.
How to Buy CHI
CHI is available in 4 pairs on 3 exchanges:
- CoinEx CHI/USDT: https://www.coinex.com/exchange/CHI-USDT
- CoinEx CHI/BTC: https://www.coinex.com/exchange/CHI-BTC
- Liquid CHI/BTC: https://app.liquid.com/exchange/CHIBTC
- ProBit CHI/USDT: https://www.probit.com/app/exchange/CHI-USDT
These are centralized exchanges and you may need to do KYC (Know Your Customer) identification, e.g. name, government issued ID, etc.
How to Buy WCHI
WCHI is currently only available on DEXes (Decentralized EXchanges) for the Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, and xDAI networks. (Arbitrum One is for Layer 2 Ethereum.) In the future, it will likely be available on centralized exchanges as well.
When you buy WCHI from a DEX, you’re interacting with a smart contract. There’s wiggle room inside those smart contracts for different websites or wallets to facilitate the swap easily for you. However, different websites/wallets may charge different fees, e.g. if you swap directly inside of MetaMask, they will charge you a 0.875% fee.
Also, the amount of liquidity at different websites/wallets can be different. You should try to choose a DEX with sufficient liquidity for your trades.
It is up to you to do your own research (DYOR) in order to decide for yourself which website or wallet you wish to use to swap for WCHI. The DEXes listed at the Xaya website are merely casual recommendations, and may or may not suit your and your particular needs.
Here are some websites where you can swap for WCHI along with my personal comments/experience. Links are to “info” pages if available, and then to the actual swap page if the info page isn’t available (info pages link to swap pages).
ETHEREUM NETWORK:
- UniSwap: https://v2.info.uniswap.org/pair/0x5f005abb542d08d23b95f239ab367f9ff233d0a8
– Comments: As of this writing, there is relatively decent liquidity there. I have had no bad experiences other than the typically insane ETH gas fees.
AnySwap: See below under BSC.
BINANCE SMART CHAIN (BSC):
- PankcakeSwap: https://pancakeswap.finance/info/pair/0x8eee2d3b34a346f582ae83c593efa2462298d1c9
– Comments: This is a decent interface with moderate liquidity. Fees are quite cheap here. - Poocoin: https://poocoin.app/tokens/0x22648c12acd87912ea1710357b1302c6a4154ebc
– Comments: The charts here are better than in many others. You can also change them between USD and ETH. You access the trading interface by clicking the “Trade” button above the chart. Further, you can also switch to the Polygon network with the same interface. - AnySwap: https://bsc.anyswap.exchange/#/bridge?bridgetoken=0x22648c12acd87912ea1710357b1302c6a4154ebc
– Comments: This is for swapping tokens across chains. I would urge caution when using AnySwap or Multichain.xyz. You could end up with an Any<token>, which is an incredible hassle and not worth the time. See their support article about it here. If you use them, use the bridge and not the router. Also, check to make certain that the other side has sufficient liquidity on the chain.
POLYGON NETWORK:
- QuickSwap: https://info.quickswap.exchange/pair/0x564d4e21e2b140f746d8004173f23bc8457edaf1
– Comments: The interface is pretty much identical to UniSwap, but the fees are far, far lower, and even lower than the BSC fees. It doesn’t have as much liquidity as the Ethereum or BSC ones listed above, but it’s definitely worth checking out.
XDAI NETWORK:
- HoneySwap: https://info.honeyswap.org/#/pair/0x4e62261d07123b523765f50a7474a09a82e43c06
– Comments: There VERY LITTLE liquidity here as of this writing, and I’ve not used it. The UI is similar to the UniSwap and QuickSwap swap interfaces.
PROTIPS!
Coming soon… I’ll give you tips on trading so that you can stack CHI and stack BTC. Fuck USDT and shitcoins.
